Our client, a well funded leading private equity investor into the global mining sector currently is seeking a dynamic geology professional to support its global activities. The management team is a combination of highly experienced and senior private equity, mining company and investment banking professionals, and has the ability to operate companies which it invests into.

The VP - Geology will ensure that corporate and market resource and reserve reporting is completed in an accurate and timely manner.  The incumbent will provide technical support to the portfolio of companies and projects under evaluation in the field of geostatistics, resources modeling and mineral reserves estimating.  The individual will also be responsible for participating and providing guidance in the area of exploration and resource expansion. Additionally, s/he will play a key role in communicating resource estimates and exploration initiatives to the financial community. 

The individual should be someone who is interested in growing with the group as an Operating Partner.

Role & Responsibilities:              

  •         Technical support, guidance and assistance to the company's group of companies and projects
  •         Support and/or perform geological and mineral resources /reserves due diligence assessments
  •         Ability to present geological concepts and resource estimates to the financial community
  •         Provide support and guidance on exploration work projects.
  •         Keep abreast on mineral resources and mineral estimation standards and practices and make recommendations to improve the company's mineral resources and mineral reserves estimation techniques.
  •         Assists in establishing processes related to geology and resource modeling
  •         Responsibility for compliance and validation of mineral resources and mineral reserves.
  •         The incumbent will be required to visit project sites to perform due diligence, review and understand the project value, assist management with exploration planning
  •         Prepare and support 43-101 reports and disclosure

 

Minimum Qualifications & Skill Requirements:

  •         Bachelor's degree in Geology or higher
  •         Previous work experience using Micromine 3D modeling software or similar software package
  •         Over 10 years of mining related experience as an operator and / or consultant
  •         Geological and resource modeling experience
  •         Highly developed verbal and written communication skills in English
  •         Working knowledge of Spanish
  •         Qualified Person under Canadian NI 43-101 regulations or the ability to become one
  •         Broad experience including precious and base metal projects
  •         Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, organizational, technical and analytical skills
  •         Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing situations
  •         Ability to travel internationally
  •         Good working knowledge and skill with AutoCAD and proficiency with MS Office
  •         Familiarity with various TSX policies
