Job Description:

We are currently hiring a Vice President of Operations for our Mining Division.  This permanent position will be based out of our head office in Regina, SK, Canada.

Required Skills:

  • 30+ years’ experience in shaft sinking and mining construction environments in multi-billion dollar projects
  • Has been in a role of General Manager of Mining Operation or VP of Mining Operation for the past 10 years.
  • Global experience in a variety of mining environments
  • Capable of evaluating geological strata to assess mine viability
  • Verified project execution experience in a total project environment from project inception to project execution to project commissioning.
  • Experience in executing work using frozen wall technology in shaft sinking
  • Qualifications to include certification as both Professional Engineering (Engineering Technologist will be considered) and Certification of Competency – Mine Manager
  • Demonstrated capability in building strong teams to execute client requirements
  • Strong track record of implementing safety initiatives and working with Health, Safety and Environment teams
  • Confirmed capability in leading geographically diverse teams in challenging mining environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in dealing with senior VPs, Board Members and other executives in client organizations
  • Exceptional experience in dealing with EPCM environments with Project Management Institute tools 

Responsibilities & Job Duties Include:

  • Lead, model and implement the organization’s high safety standards at all sites.
  • Ensure the company’s Mining Operations are run in accordance with the project goals and contract requirements.
  • Maximize productivity, profitability and quality of work to ensure an ongoing relationship with clients and stakeholders.
  • Present information equally effectively to/with executives and to/with miners.
  • Analyze and present productivity factors, on a weekly basis, at all mining sites
  • Ensure that good relations are maintained with clients and that the company’s interests are promoted at every opportunity to maximize our ongoing success.
  • Read and understand the Prime Contract and ensure the project team understands contractual obligations, including unusual or risk-laden requirements.
  • Participate in and manage master schedule for each mine site, provide input to and review of 3-week look ahead schedule and co-manage issue mediation and development of recovery schedule(s)
  • Oversee and coordinate with Area Managers on cost management issues.
  • Develop and direct the set-up of documentation and reporting protocols
  • Allocate resources – human and financial and materials – to implement company policies and programs.
  • Select, in conjunction with Area Managers, appropriate individuals to fill highly specialized shaft mining roles.
  • Contribute to the development of a shaft mining competency program.
  • Must be willing to live in Regina, Saskatchewan.

Compensation

Salary & Benefits:

The salary range for this position is between $168,000 - $204,000 (CND) annually.

This position is eligible to receive a vehicle allowance, health benefits and an employer funded group RRSP.

Eligible to receive an annual Performance Plan Bonus (PPB).
