As a result of solid business growth we are looking to recruit a Safety Management professional to work as part of our team. Reporting to Senior Management you will be charged with managing all aspects of project safety on mining and civil construction projects, in addition to other industry clients. The main purpose of the role will be to implement, monitor and enforce (project) Health & Safety management systems and performance, to achieve continuous improvements and meet project and corporate expectations.

The successful candidate will have five or more years experience in Safety Management, preferably in the mining and civil construction industry. They will be motivated to succeed in the field and be able work independently.

This role will have a diverse range of responsibilities, which cover all aspects of Health and Safety.

Your main responsibilities and accountabilities are as follows, but not limited to:

  • Facilitate appropriate compliance with all company and client health & safety systems, and identify improvement.

  • Advise Departmental Managers and Supervisors on safety requirements.

  • Conduct daily risk assessments and develop SWM's / SOP's for the site where required.

  • Participate and conduct daily pre-shift toolbox meetings.

  • Participate and conduct workplace health & safety meetings.

  • Participate in site health & safety committees.

  • Undertake thorough incident investigations and implement effective corrective actions. Develop and implement a schedule of health & safety system audits.

  • Conduct daily health & safety inspections, monitoring and analysis of work areas.

  • Assist in (when on site) First Aid treatment and ensure the proper care of injured persons.

  • Facilitate Drug & Alcohol testing of employees and subcontractors and maintain records.

  • Ensure the safety of personnel and compliance with established safety policies, procedures and practices.

To be successful in securing this role you will have the following skills and attributes:

  • Tertiary qualifications in WH&S or equivalent

  • Certificate IV Workplace Assessment & Training (desirable)

  • High level computer skills – Word, Excel, PowerPoint

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Well organised and good time management skills

  • Previous site/field experience

  • Applicants must undertake a full pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol testing and all required training / inductions.
